Your Local Handyman Middlesbrough Service
Welcome to Handyman Middlesbrough, the local property maintenance and home-improvement service that the people of Teesside have counted on for over fifteen years. Whether you have a snagging list as long as your arm or a single shelf that needs putting up before the in-laws arrive, we are the friendly local team that turns up on time, treats your home like our own, and leaves it cleaner than we found it.
We were founded right here in Middlesbrough by a tradesman who got fed up watching neighbours wait three weeks for a builder to return an email about a sagging gate. Today we run a small, hand-picked team of joiners, painters, plumbers and general handymen who genuinely enjoy the variety of small-scale work. One morning we are hanging a curtain pole in Acklam, the afternoon is spent boxing in pipework in Linthorpe, and the next day we might be sanding back a Victorian skirting board in a terrace just off Linthorpe Road. That variety is what keeps our work interesting, and it is what keeps our prices reasonable too: no job is too small, and there is no minimum hire period.
What Makes Us Different
Anyone can pick up a screwdriver and call themselves a handyman. The difference is in how the job is finished. We tighten the screw fully, we wipe the fingerprints off the paintwork, we hoover up the dust, and we cart the rubbish away with us. We turn up when we say we will, we ring ahead if traffic on the A19 is going to make us five minutes late, and we never start a job we cannot finish properly. If a task is genuinely beyond the remit of a competent handyman โ gas work, a Part P notifiable electrical alteration, structural work โ we will tell you straight, and where possible we will recommend a trusted local specialist. That honesty is the reason most of our work now comes from word-of-mouth recommendations across Middlesbrough, Stockton, Thornaby and Redcar.
We are also unusual in that we take landlord and letting-agent work just as seriously as private homeowner enquiries. End-of-tenancy checklists, between-let painting, broken locks, sticking doors, dripping taps, smoke alarm replacements โ we deal with the lot, and we are happy to invoice through your agent. Many local landlords have us on speed-dial precisely because they know that a Sunday-morning text about a tenant's broken window will be answered, and very often actioned the same day.
Reasonable Rates, Honest Quoting
Pricing in this trade has a poor reputation, and we understand why. People have been quoted ยฃ200 to fix a tap that should have cost ยฃ40. With us, you get a clear hourly rate, a clear materials cost, and an honest estimate before any work begins. Most small jobs we can quote by email or from a photograph; for larger projects such as a kitchen makeover, a bathroom refit or a full re-decoration we are happy to come out and look at the job in person, free of charge and with no obligation. We do not pressure-sell, we do not invent extra problems, and we do not disappear halfway through a job to start another one.
Covering the Whole of Teesside
Although our base is in Middlesbrough, we regularly travel to surrounding towns including Stockton-on-Tees, Thornaby, Ingleby Barwick, Yarm, Eaglescliffe, Redcar, Marske, Saltburn, Guisborough and the villages of East Cleveland. If you are not sure whether we cover your postcode, just drop us an email โ we are based right in the heart of TS1 and we can usually be on most Teesside doorsteps within twenty-four hours of an enquiry. Emergency call-outs are available too, although we will always be honest about whether your job genuinely needs same-day attention or whether it can wait a day or two for a less urgent slot.
